NaNoWriMo Week 4 recap

Week 4 was great for me!

I’m still pretty far behind after having two lackluster weeks in the middle of the month, but I feel like I’ve found my stride again. I’m still having a lot of fun with The Dreams, and I know it won’t be finished when I hit 50k for the month.

At this point I honestly don’t know how long it will be. I have an idea of how it will end, but there’s still a lot of things left to write until I reach that point. It’s going to be a long story. Hopefully nobody will mind.

I have 19,000 words left to write by midnight tomorrow night. That number is a little overwhelming, but I’ve written 18,000 in on the last day of NaNoWriMo in the past so I know I can do a bit more in two days if I put my mind to it. If I can get close to 40,000 today I know I’ll be able to finish tomorrow. Usually I work pretty well under pressure.

How was week 4 of NaNoWriMo for you? Have you already won? Are you scrambling to get caught up like me? How will you spend the final two days of the month?

NaNoWriMo Week 3

Week 3 of NaNoWriMo was not the phenomenal recovery from week 2 that I had been hoping for…

I had a lot of bad writing days, and one day that almost made up for it.

Right now I need to write almost 4k a day to finish on time. I’m trying to get that number down bit by bit. I haven’t given up hope yet.

I’m still in love with my story. I think I’ve been enjoying it more and more as the month goes on. It won’t be finished at the end of the month, but I have no intention of stopping my writing when the calendar flips over to December.

How’s your NaNoWriMo going? Was week 3 kind to you? Are you ready to take on the final week of NaNoWriMo?

Week 2 of NaNoWriMo was not kind to me. It’s never kind to me.

My words per day dropped a bit, but then I went to a write-in on Saturday and write over 2,000 words. I’m still very, very behind, but I think I can catch up.

As of right now I’m still about 12,000 words behind. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but with half a month to go I can still get caught up.

How is NaNoWriMo treating you? Are you ahead or behind on your word count? Are you prepared for week 3?

NaNoWriMo: The First Week

PrintHow’s your writing been going?

I’ve had a great writing week! This is the first time in a while that I’ve written every day in a week in quite a long time. It’s exciting!

Now, I haven’t exactly been hitting 1,667 words a day, but that’s okay. After six full days of writing I have 5,053 words written, and I will add quite a bit to that number today.

Today is a very important day on the NaNoWriMo calendar. It is Double Up Day. It’s a day for raising money for NaNoWriMo, but it’s also a day for giving your word count a serious boost. My goal for Double Up Day is to double my total word count. For people with word counts a bit more on target right now that might be a tall order. Instead, maybe try writing double the daily word count goal today: 3,333 rather than 1,667.

Hopefully word counts will rocket into the stratosphere today and we’ll end the first week of NaNoWriMo 2015 on solid ground.

Week two is looming right around the corner. If we stay motivated hopefully we can all keep our word counts from suffering too much during the week two blues.

Are you planning to double up on your word count today?

Do you have any tips or tricks to keep your word count and your motivation from plummeting during week two?
