Thanks! These lists are great and really make me think about classic books I haven’t read yet.

I just re-read Room with a View for the third or fourth time and I feel cheated that it’s never as good as I want it to be… Lucy starts to wear on my nerves.

I should go back and reread that book. I’ve never read it for pleasure. It was required reading for an English class I took a few years ago, and back then I liked it, but maybe it was just better than other books I was forced to read.

I think EM Forster turns a lovely phrase but Lucy never seems to know what she’s feeling until someone else points it out, and then she acts like a spoiled child.

Yeah. She’s pretty passive. Not the best trait in a main character.

God, I need to read more romance! Would you believe the only ones I’ve read (from this list) are Romeo and Juliet and The Phantom of the Opera??

There’s plenty of great ones on this list! Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors of any genre.

We have her books in my library. You’d think I’d have read her by now but somehow it just hasn’t happened!
