February 8
No writing progress made. Still feeling a bit burned out. I’m hoping I’ll feel better tomorrow.
February 9
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 93,009
- Today’s word count: -19
- Thoughts: More editing. I’m going to try to get through it a bit faster and keep myself in high spirits while doing it.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More editing. Try to make it fun.
February 10
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 92,876
- Today’s word count: -133
- Thoughts: I think one of the worst thing about editing is seeing my word count for my progress chart going down.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More editing. Hopefully I can finish this chapter in just one more day.
February 11
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 92,818
- Today’s word count: -58
- Thoughts: I’m still not finished editing this chapter. I think I need to come up with another, better method for editing. In general I’m just not very confident with editing and revising. I might take some time tomorrow to learn how other people manage to edit so much so quickly.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Finish editing. Maybe learn how to do this a bit better.
February 12
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 92,837
- Today’s word count: 19
- Thoughts: I didn’t work on my novel as much as I thought I would today. I’m trying not to be too hard on myself about it because I did do a lot of other things instead including going out into the really gross cold and getting groceries for the week.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Keep working on the editing thing, I guess.
February 13
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 92,708
- Today’s word count: -129
- Thoughts: I really hate editing.
- Tomorrow’s goal: I don’t even know. Writing stuff, I guess.
February 14
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 92,761
- Today’s word count: 53
- Thoughts: I’m amazed I even wrote as much as I did on Valentine’s day!
- Tomorrow’s goal: More writing! I’ve got all day. The weather is supposed to get gross again and I have no intention of going anywhere.
Editing these chapters written towards the end of NaNoWriMo is getting more and more difficult. I think I need to reevaluate the way I approach editing.
How do you edit? Is there a specific technique that works better than others for novel chapters and scenes?
