A week from now I’ll be typing furiously to get my word count in for the first day of CampNaNoWriMo.
I’m keeping my goal at 50,000 words. I’ve realized I have a ton of writing left to do for this novel. Hopefully the writing frenzy of Camp will let me reach the finish line.
Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
It should. This is the exact same thing I was hoping to accomplish back in April. I failed Camp back then. I’ve participated and failed every single CampNaNoWriMo so far. Every time I come back and I hope that this time will be different.
I want this time to be different. I need to stay motivated.
This isn’t just about winning CampNaNoWriMo (although that will be very nice). This is about getting the first draft of The Dreams finished once and for all.
This novel is huge! My old estimate of 150,000 words is looking a little low now. I’m bumping my estimate up to 200,000 and hoping that I’m overestimating how many words I have left to write.
As of today The Dreams sits at 126,546 words. 50,000 words would get me very, very close to my new estimated final word count.
I’m really excited! Some of the most exciting and interesting parts of the novel are coming up! The excitement will hopefully keep me motivated and writing like the wind. Then I will just have to deal with keeping my mouth shut about this developments until the chapters get posted. That’s going to be so hard!
Are you participating in CampNaNoWriMo? What’s your word count goal? Tell me about your project in the comments!
I didn’t even know there was a July Camp NaNo! 😛 I participated in the April Camp as well and failed miserably. I won’t have time to do it this July, but good luck to you!!

Thanks!
There’s been two Camps a year for a while now. The months used to jump around and it was a little chaotic trying to figure out when things were happening, but the last few years it seems they’ve settled on April and July.

I’m “Count” goal is 330. By count, I mean number of pieces I want to have written by the end. I’m doing a story-in-verse and trying to keep pace with it and it’s driving me nuts at this point. No idea how many actual words I’ll end up with, but it’s easier this way because I’m hand-writing this whole thing first. Gives me a better feeling about it, even if my wrist doesn’t like it at all.
Good luck on your Camping!

A story-in-verse? That sounds so cool!

July really snuck up on me… I was considering doing this, but with a new kitten and moving soon I don’t think I can spare the time and remain sane, even if I set a low word count goal. Too many things on the brain. But good luck!
