If you’ve been around me for even just a little while you know that NaNoWriMo is a Big Deal for me. I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into when I first participated in 2006. Since that first year, I’ve had wins and losses, and I think every year NaNoWriMo has become more important to me.
Last year The Dreams was my NaNoWriMo project. It’s a beast of a story and I’m still working on it today. My goal is to finish the first draft before the start of NaNoWriMo this year. That doesn’t mean I’ll reach the end of the novel here on the blog before November. As of right now, it looks like The Dreams will carry us into 2017, but there is some wiggle room there because revisions could easily mess up my projected chapter count.
This year my plan is to finish writing The Dreams well before November 1, and then dive into writing my next serial novel. I’m taking an old idea of mine and ripping it to pieces and building it back up as a brand new story. I haven’t settled on a title for it yet. Let’s hope I come up with something good before November so I can stop calling it The Next Project. It’s going to have creatures somewhere between demons and fae, assassins, exorcists, and an unconventional love triangle. I’m looking forward to writing it, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading it once I start posting it here once The Dreams reaches its conclusion.
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? Do you know what project you will be writing? Let me know in the comments!
