Wow! We only have 30 days until the big event begins. That’s not a lot of time! The NaNoWriMo website has been reset for the new writing season. It’s a wonderful, exciting time on the forums.
I’m still working on finishing up my current project. There’s still quite a way to go with it and that’s starting to make me a bit nervous. I’m still confident I can finish it before NaNoWriMo begins. All of the writing is at least good training for the sort of word counts I’ll need during NaNoWriMo. Now my word count goal is 1,500 words per day. I hope I can hit that target with some regularity.
Fortunately, I have a ton of material already gathered for my NaNoWriMo project. I’m doing a complete rewrite/reimagining of a project I first started in 2007. I already have a so much written about these characters and this world. I still don’t know how much of it I will keep in this new version, but it’s there for me to use. While most of my attention is still on my current project, I am trying to come up with a decent title for my NaNoWriMo novel.
My story binder featuring two versions of this novel idea as well as notes and profiles dating back to 2007
Bonus picture of the binder featuring Demi blurring her way into the picture. Such a helpful cat!
How are your NaNoWriMo preparations going? Do you have an idea? An outline? Are you working on building up your word count stamina like me?
I’m not participating fully this year due to rl stuff but will still be writing, entering my word counts and cheering folks on! Good luck!

Right up until the last week of September, I didn’t know what I wanted to do and I didn’t have any real enthusiasm either. But then one day, the mental block seemed to just disappear. Now I have an idea (my backup for last year), a fair idea of the plot if not a full outline and cast of characters, and I’m feeling this will go better than all my other attempts at writing this year have.
Hope you enjoy getting back into your old project!

I’ve had an idea since June, and I’m trying to semi-plot ahead as prep for NaNo. I’m super excited, if a little worried things will get quite busy in November.
Good Luck with your novel. What’s it about, if I may ask? Mine’s about a young woman trying to re-lock her deadly magic abilities while running from a demon army led by an insane king.

Thanks and good luck to you too!
My novel is about an exorcist that discovers the demons she’s been exorcising are actually beings from another world that are sometimes magically trapped between worlds when one accidentally ends up in her world. She helps him to get home and all hell breaks loose.

I’ve been writing short stories told from the perspective of various characters. It’s surprisingly helped a lot with worldbuilding and plotting, and it’s got me rethinking a few things. Overall, it’s been really helpful.
