The first week of NaNoWriMo is already behind us. It’s hard to believe.
At first, everything was great. I was hitting the word count target every single day. I was posting my daily writing right after midnight to my Patreon so my patrons could read my awful first draft as I wrote it.
Then Sunday came around. Sunday was not kind to me. The time change messed me up. I spent the day feeling disoriented. I tried so hard to make writing happen, but I made very little progress. Everything was thrown off schedule. Even my updates to Patreon got pushed off until the morning. I just did not have the energy to get the post together at midnight.
Since Sunday I’ve been trying to get back on track, but it’s an uphill battle.
Once my brain got that tiny taste of laziness it did not want to let go. Even after sleeping in on Monday my brain still didn’t want to get back to writing at a NaNoWriMo pace.
It seems my week 2 slump started early this year. Now the truly difficult part of NaNoWriMo begins. Week 2 is when everything starts to feel like work.
Time to get to work.
How is NaNoWriMo treating you? Are you in a week 2 slump or are you still going strong?
I had bad writing days on the 3rd and 5th, but I’ve been writing okay every other day. I’ve definitely had the week 2 slump in previous years, though, and I’m hoping it’s not going to be as bad this year.

I’m really hoping my bad writing days the past two days are the extent of my slump. I’d rather not spend a week falling behind.

I have had a few low days as well – but I think they are fine and natural. Better to have a low day and not worry about it too much, pick up the slack another day, rather than force yourself each day just to hit that word count no matter how long or painful it is!
We’ll all get through this together π
Have you been to any write ins? I haven’t myself but they sound like the sort of place where you could get a bit of competition going and in one day really bump up that word count!

I was at a write-in on Saturday! That as the last day I was able to keep pace with NaNoWriMo’s target word count goal. Since then it has been a bit of a slump, but I think, I hope, I’ll be able to get out of it soon.

How did it go?
If you ever feel like some competition or want someone to bounce ideas of feel free to send me a comment or message and we could have a virtual write in! I’m sure we could nab a few other NaNo bloggers and make a thing out of it!

It was a lot of fun. We all wrote quietly for the first two hours or so and then everyone started talking and we started writing a lot less. I managed almost 1500 words during that write-in though so I consider it a success.

I am beginning to feel a little pang of alarm because I haven’t done any NaNo writing so far today and I am behind schedule. It sort of feels like I am plodding along at the moment, and I need to speed up a little and get back on tract. We will do this! π

I’m still scrambling to get caught up.
The week two slump is as tough as ever this year. It does get better eventually and it is too early to give up hope of catching up.
