November 7
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 6,533
- Today’s word count: 646
- Thoughts: Better, but not NaNoWriMo good. I need to pick up my pace. Falling behind is never good during a race like NaNoWriMo. Every time this happens I end up just about breaking my hands during the final few days of the month and needing the first week of December to physically recover. I can’t let that happen again.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Try to get back on track. I need 13,333 words for the month by the end of the day to be caught up. I can do it!
November 8
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 7,039
- Today’s word count: 506
- Thoughts: I tried to write. I really did. Then I got caught up in trying to reassure a lot of panicking people and keep order in the spaces I moderate. I know it’s not halfway over and I’m already drained.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Escape into my writing as much as possible. As much as I want to be there for my friends that are as terrified as me, if not even more, I need to take care of myself and recharge.
November 9
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 9,058
- Today’s word count: 2,019
- Thoughts: Lots of progress! I’m really happy with the amount I wrote, but I’m still behind.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. I still have catching up to do!
November 10
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 9,310
- Today’s word count: 252
- Thoughts: I wanted to keep the word counts high this week, but I crashed emotionally today. It’s really important to take care of yourself emotionally while writing and I failed to do that this week. I can’t stop making this mistake.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Writing. Self-care. Lots of good stuff.
November 11
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: 202,597
- Today’s word count: 527

- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 9,826
- Today’s word count: 516

- Thoughts: Better. Not great, but better. And I managed to get some work on The Dreams in. I can’t believe how much work is left to do on this project. It’s a little scary. Novels are scary.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Writing. I’m helping to make several large batches of salsa tomorrow, but I should still have plenty of time to work on my writing projects.
November 12
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 10,011
- Today’s word count: 185
- Thoughts: This is what happens when I’m gone for most of the day and my hands are kept busy. I can’t write and when I do get home I’m too tired to make much progress.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Catching up. I really, really need a couple of good catch up days right now.
November 13
- Project: The Dreams
- Total word count: I’m not sure. Project targets in Scrivener for The Dreams stopped counting at 202,597. I don’t know if it is a fixable bug or I’ve just messed it up with my ridiculously huge project.
- Today’s word count: 559

- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 10,170
- Today’s word count: 159

- Thoughts: Headachy, confusing writing day. I may have found a bug/upper limit for manuscript word counts in Scrivener. I didn’t write as much as I would have liked.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Write, write, write some more. This is NaNoWriMo. Writing is the only acceptable option.
You may have noticed a new chapter of The Dreams did not go up over the weekend. I’m really struggling with wrapping this story up and NaNoWriMo is only compounding that issue. I don’t have a chapter I’m remotely happy with at the moment. I do hope to have a chapter out on Saturday. I want to wrap this story up!
At this point, all I know for sure is there is more than one chapter left of The Dreams. Once the last chapter is posted I’ll be switching gears and start revising Inbetween and posting the second draft chapter by chapter here. If you want to read the first draft as I write it, you can do that by becoming my patron. So far I’ve enjoyed sharing my first draft so I hope to continue doing this with Inbetween beyond NaNoWriMo and hopefully with future projects as well.
It’s my first NaNoWriMo this month… I am so behind! But at least I’m writing something that’s all that counts right? Best of luck with the remaining NaNo days 🙂

Thanks!
Just keep writing. It’s hard to reach the minimum word count some days, but it is better to write even a little than it is to not write at all. Just keep writing!
