Only two weeks until the second CampNaNoWriMo session of 2017 begins. Are you participating? Are you ready?
I think I’m ready. Continuing an ongoing project does save me from having to pick a new project and I’m already familiar with the plot and characters. I don’t get that “fresh project” boost, but I think I can live without that. More often than not I stumble at the start of NaNoWriMo anyway so the boost is lost on me.
This might be the Camp session that leads to a win for me. I’ve said that many times before, but I mean it every time. If you’ve followed my blog for a while now, you probably know I’ve won NaNoWriMo many times, but I’ve failed every single CampNaNoWriMo. I might have a Camp curse.
I don’t let my failures discourage me. I’ve walked away from every failed CampNaNoWriMo with more words than I started. I like to think I learn more about myself as a writer each time as well. My failures point me in the direction of things I need to adjust about my writing routine.
My goal for next month is a little hard to nail down. Instead of having a number of words I want to write during the month, I have a total word count I’d like to achieve by the end of July. Since it’s a word count total I’m aiming for, I won’t know my exact target word count for July until July 1. My ultimate goal is to have 150,000 words of Inbetween written by the end of CampNaNoWriMo. With half of month to go before Camp starts, I acknowledge I could end up with a goal over 50,000 words and likely won’t be setting a goal much lower than the usual NaNoWriMo word count.
Will you be participating in CampNaNoWriMo next month? Tell me about your project! What goals are you setting for yourself?
I wasn’t actually planning on it but I AM already working on a project so maybe I should just for the fun of it…

It can’t hurt to have some extra cheerleaders and writing buddies for a month!

I’m not certain whether I’m doing it yet – if I am, I’ll have another go at the project I failed to make much progress on in April.

Either way, good luck with your project!

I haven’t been paying attention to Camp NaNo at all and didn’t even know this was coming up! I’m not certain if I’ll do it or not, but if I do, I’ll be continuing to work on my current script.

CampNaNoWriMo does seem to lurk just out of view until it is nearly upon us. Good luck with your project whether you decide to do Camp or not!

Undecided. I want to finish my current project, which braved Nano2016 and April Camp 2017, but I don’t think there’s enough to last another camp!

You could always make it your goal to just finish your project for July Camp!

That’s definitely a manageable task! 😀

Sometimes it’s nice to set a goal you know you can achieve.
