• Thoughts: My daily word count is climbing! I’m okay with this. I want to keep this up!
• Tomorrow’s goal: Writing! I’m finding my writing groove and I don’t want to lose it. Getting off track now would be a disaster.

July 4

• Today’s word count: 435
• Thoughts: I didn’t write as much as I would have liked, but I did write and that has to count for something. I’m going to blame it on the holiday and leave it at that. I had to fit in some extra fun time today so that cut into my writing time.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. The holiday is over. I should have plenty of time to devote to writing my novel.

July 5

• Today’s word count: 1,312
• Thoughts: Yay! Writing! I feel like I really made progress today. That’s so rare these days. Even when I write, a lot of the time I feel like I’m treading water either with the plot or with my characters. It’s definitely an early draft problem. I doubt I’ll ever be completely cured of it during drafts 1 and 2, but I hope I can stop feeling discouraged by it someday.

July 6

• Thoughts: I accomplished so much today! It was a really good day. There are still some things I would have liked to do that I didn’t manage to do, but there’s always going to be unacheived goals.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing! I’m being pretty productive lately and I want to keep that going.

July 7

• Thoughts: I wrote, but I didn’t write nearly as much as I had hoped. My mind was too restless to settle onto one topic.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Settle down and write. There’s plenty of time to do it. I just need to focus.

July 8

• Thoughts: Progress! Yay! Once I started writing the words came easily. My only regret is that I didn’t manage to start writing sooner. I might have managed to write even more if I didn’t end up so tired.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing! I’ve been on such a roll progress-wise. I really don’t want to risk stopping now.

July 9

• Thoughts: Well, I wrote. It was such a struggle to get started, so creating any new words at all was a real victory.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Write more. I know I can do it. Maybe I’ll even do it without needing to struggle for hours to get started!
