Wow! Two weeks of Camp are behind us already!
I had another week of ups and downs. I had some great days and some not so great days. I’d really like to have a week of consistently good days, but at this point I’m still not sure what I can do to make that happen.
I’m still loving my story. My characters are revealing more about themselves to me. There’s a lot of things I’d like to go back and change now that I understand my characters better, but I’m resisting that urge. I want to have a completed draft (and a complete draft’s worth of understanding of my characters and their motivations) before I go back and do complete rewrites of scenes.
My biggest enemy this week was the weather. It was so hot for most of the week that I could barely think. All my attention went into keeping cool, keeping the apartment cool and coming up with things to eat and drink that wouldn’t heat up the house any more.
Things are cooler right now. I should be able to concentrate better now, but I’m out of practice with my good writing habits. It looks like week 3 will be all about building up those habits again.
I’m still behind at this point. I’ve fallen further behind, in fact. Tomorrow I will finally decide whether or not to lower my goal for the month. Right now I’m seriously considering setting a more reasonable goal. The biggest challenge will be finding a new word count goal that will be more attainable, but will still challenge me to stretch beyond my comfort zone.
How was week 2 of CampNaNoWriMo for you? Are you on track to reach your goal or are you behind like me? Are you already finished?
We are having hot weather here as well – too hot 😦
But I am sure you’ll do okay and there’s always next month to do more 😀

Yeah. I can always write more outside of Camp. I think my frustration comes from wanting to write and just feeling too miserable to follow through on that desire to be productive.
