NaNoWriMo is Coming

65 days.

We only have 65 days until the writing marathon known as NaNoWriMo starts. I usually start my countdown sometime in August. This year I managed to make it to the end of the month!

That should not be interpreted as lack of enthusiasm on my part for this year’s write-a-thon. It’s more a matter of just being caught up in my own projects lately. It’s been great! I’ve been using the enthusiasm to build up my writing stamina. If I keep it up I’ll be in great shape for writing the daily word counts needed for NaNoWriMo.

Getting my writing muscles in shape is one piece of the puzzle. Another is picking a project.

I’m not sure what I’m going to write for NaNoWriMo. That’s a big problem. I like to plan. I feel better when I know what I’m doing. Right now the full extent of my plan is to wait and see.

I’m still writing the first draft of Inbetween. I’m working on my outline for the 3rd draft of The Dreams. It looks like I’ll start writing this new draft in September. Both these projects are viable options for continuing projects in November.

There’s still time for those facts to change. There’s a chance I could finish the first draft of Inbetween before November. If I do that, I have to consider the possiblility of starting a new project. If that happens, I’ll have a couple options to consider including one about dragons and mages, and another about lab-created vampires.

I’m glad I still have 65 days to figure this all out. A lot can change in that time. As November draws closer, I think I’ll be able to eliminate a few of the possible outcomes. For now, my writing future is wide open and full of possibilities.

I love it and hate it at the same time.

Are you preparing for NaNoWriMo? Have you picked a project?

  1. I have planned at all. I have no idea what I’m going to write about because I actually have a few different ideas. Next month will be prep month for me.

I’m really excited to start planning and getting things situated.
