January 8

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 14
• Thoughts: My bad luck streak seems to continue! Our heat was acting up today. The furnace in the basement of the building must have switched off for one reason or another very early Monday morning. Most of the apartment hovered around 50 degrees while a space heater in the computer room fought to bring the temperature up to 60. If that wasn’t bad enough, one of my monitors died completely so I’m working with half the screen space I’m used to for reference, writing, etc. A replacement/upgrade is on the way now, but isn’t due to arrive until the 17th.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Warm up. Relearn how to function with one 19 inch monitor for the time being. WRITE!

January 9

• Project: Inbetween
• Total word count: 138,866
• Today’s word count: 170
• Thoughts: Better. Not great. But better. I can build up from this. At this point, I think it is a little bit too much to expect me to be back to 100% in one day. It will be a gradual process. It will happen.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. More revising. Get an overdue chapter posted?

January 10

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 102
• Thoughts: Still waiting on that miraculous breakthrough that will make everything about my usual routine work again. I don’t know what to do. I’m feeling pretty discouraged.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Back to writing. I can do this.

January 11

• Today’s word count: 313
• Thoughts: Better! I feel like I’m getting somewhere now! Today did a lot to lift my spirits. I think I can get back to writing a significant amount every day now.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More of the same, but better!

January 12

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 148
• Thoughts: Friday’s are usually not great days for writing so I didn’t have the highest of expectations, but today wasn’t all that bad compared to the rest of my days lately. It could be better, of course, but I’ve had many worse writing days lately.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Write! Maybe finally get a chapter posted?

January 13

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 115
• Thoughts: Still not the kind of day I was hoping for. I don’t know what I need to change to get things back on track, but I hope I figure it out soon.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. Hopefully, a lot more writing.

January 14

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 245
• Thoughts: I feel like I finally had a breakthrough today. I know my work count still isn’t particularly impressive, but today I felt something change. I think the writing part of my brain has switched back on.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing! I’m confident I can make it happen.
