- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 142,146
- Today’s word count: 125
- Thoughts: I posted a chapter today. That’s part of the reason why my word count is low again. Another reason was being distracted by fiddling with settings for a new scene. It should be fixed now.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Back to writing. I don’t think anything will distract me from it.
January 30
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 142,318
- Today’s word count: 172
- Thoughts: I struggled today. My characters didn’t want to move the plot forward. My solution was to introduce a new character, but that meant taking time to find a name to call that character. I suppose I could have used a filler name, but this character was coming through strong enough in my mind that he needed the right name.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. I know I can do it. I’m motivated and armed with a brand new character.
January 31
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 142,589
- Today’s word count: 271
- Thoughts: Today was okay. I just wasn’t all that focused. I’m still feeling a bit off from some headache/sinus trouble I had earlier.
- Tomorrow’s goal: Get back on track. I’m sure I can do it. I just need to put my mind to it.
February 1
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 142,764
- Today’s word count: 175
- Thoughts: I think I put too much pressure on myself today and I couldn’t handle it. You can tell from my word count.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. Revising. I’m not holding my breath. Fridays are always rough.
February 2
- Project: Inbetween
- Total word count: 143,008
- Today’s word count: 244
- Thoughts: Well, today was better than I expected. I guess that’s the lesson. I need to lower my expectations so I can be pleasantly surprised more often.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. Revising maybe. Hopefully I get a chapter posted on time for once.
February 3
- Project: Inbetween

- Today’s word count: 416
- Thoughts: Today was really productive! I’m feeling great about my writing and my progress with this novel.
- Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. Revising. Let’s go!
February 4

- Thoughts: I’m starting to feel like I’m making progress again. It’s a great feeling and I can already tell it is motivating me to write more.

Fantasy Novels By Bridgett 
For me it’s usually two things that would contribute a low word count. I’m distracted and procrastinating. Or I’m too into my head about writing something perfect that I don’t either write or as much or delete what I wrote already. Have to keep reminding myself to just get the words down. It can be craptastic but still get the words down. Because it doesn’t have to be perfect. That’s what rewriters are for.

For me anxiety over having a bad writing day becomes a feedback loop where I get so afraid of failing to write that I can barely write at all. Until I get out of that mindset entirely, every day requires a conscious effort to write enough to stave off feelings of failure.
