• Thoughts: The heat got to me. I ended up daydreaming more than writing.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Hopefully I can turn my daydreams into something productive and write!

August 7

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 312
• Thoughts: Today was a decent writing day. It was definitely the best day I’ve had all month. Most of the writing happened after we had some rain and the weather finally cooled off. I’m starting to think oppressive heat and humidity have a huge impact on my ability to be creative.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. I don’t think it is supposed to be quite so hot so I’m hoping it will be a productive day for creativity.

August 8

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 210
• Thoughts: Today wasn’t a great day but it certainly wasn’t a bad day. I settled in for a good writing session this evening, but a thunderstorm rolled in and it should have been good background noise for my writing but it distracted me a lot more than anything.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. I think I can do it. I want to start writing more again.

August 9

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 314
• Thoughts: Today wasn’t so bad. I feel like I made progress. I still would have liked to write more, but I ended up needing to sleep before I ran out of ideas/motivation. It happens more often than I’d like.
• Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. Maybe some revising. I’m aiming high and preparing to fail because it’ll be Friday.

August 10

• Project: Inbetween
• Total word count: 185,784
• Today’s word count: 82
• Thoughts: I had lofty goals. I know better than to have high expectations on a Friday but here we go again. I wrote, but not very much. I had too much else on my plate.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Hopefully things will be better, but I’m not too optimistic. It looks like it will be another busy day. Fun, but busy.

August 11

There was no writing progress today. I had a great day at the street fair and then went to visit my mom instead. I’m trying to give myself permission to take more days off because I’m just starting to climb out of being burned out and I don’t want it to happen again.

August 12

• Project: Inbetween

• Today’s word count: 131
• Thoughts: Today was a bit of a struggle. I was still really tired and it showed when I tried to sit down and focus. As long as I was up and moving around I felt awake and alert, but sitting down for more than five minutes left me groggy and nodding off. I still tried to write and think I managed to do a decent job of revising in between hopping up to move around and wake myself up.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Hopefully I’ll get a good night’s rest and wake up ready to start a new, productive week of writing.
