Writing Progress July 1 – 7, 2019

daily writing progress

July 1

  • Project: Inbetween
  • Total word count: 237,715
  • Today’s word count: 204
  • Thoughts: It was the first day of CampNaNoWriMo! I worked on planning my next serial for over an hour. It felt like I didn’t make a ton of progress because I was getting settled into my new project file, but I can tell this month is going to be really productive. Then I switched gears and wrote some more of Inbetween. Being busy makes me more productive. Funny how that works.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: More planning. More writing. It’s going to be another productive day, I’m sure of it!

July 2

Oh boy. I was wrong. Today wasn’t productive at all, at least in the writing department. I just couldn’t do it. I was unfocused and nothing happened. Then I was busy and I couldn’t write. Once I wasn’t busy again, it was very late and I was exhausted from being busy and the heat of the day. I tried to write before bed and ended up falling asleep on top of my laptop. It was a frustrating experience.

July 3

  • Project: Inbetween
  • Total word count: 237,886
  • Today’s word count: 171
  • Thoughts: I wrote! But I didn’t work on my CampNaNoWriMo project. It’s still early in the month and since I’m trying to get a total of 30 hours done, I’m sure I’ll get caught up soon. I usually don’t focus for just an hour at a time. It’s usually either 15 minutes for half a day. We’ll see how things turn out as the month progresses.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: Wrap up a chapter. Work on some revisions. Plan my next serial. Keep writing.

July 4

  • Project: Inbetween
  • Total word count: 237,930
  • Today’s word count: 44
  • Thoughts: Writing wasn’t a high priority today. I think I’ll have to forgive myself. It was a holiday, after all. That’s pretty distracting. I did make some progress with planning my new serial, which was exciting. Expect some posts about the things I’m trying and how it is working out for me. So far I’ve tried out two different things that I think might be worth writing posts about!
  • Tomorrow’s goal: Oh Friday. I never know what to expect on Fridays and this week is even more of a question mark than usual. Some of my Friday plans/chores are the ordinary, run of the mill stuff that I do every week, but there is the added factor of it being the day after a holiday. I have no idea how it might turn out or how distracted I might be. I’d like to write. We’ll have to wait to see what happens.

July 5

I didn’t make any proper writing progress today, but I did work on planning my next serial. I don’t have a good way to record my progress when it comes to planning projects, but I’ll just say here that I managed to find the time between other activities to do a decent amount of planning. It was fun!

July 6

  • Project: Inbetween
  • Total word count: 237,991
  • Today’s word count: 61
  • Thoughts: I wrote! That’s a feat when I look at how much time I spent out of the house today. It might not have been much at all, but just making the effort to turn my attention to my writing when there are a million distractions all alround me makes me proud of me dedication to my project. Days like this make me believe I really can finish writing this.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: I think I’m going to need to spend sometime revising. I’ve been writing a decent amount but my revisions have been neglected. it’s time to get another chapter shined up and ready for the blog.

July 7

  • Project: Inbetween
  • Total word count: 238,088
  • Today’s word count: 97
  • Thoughts: If you ask me, it was impressive I wrote at all today. After staying up half most of the night playing games with friends (and writing a little bit during the down time) I didn’t expect to have any energy at all. Apparently a few hours of sleep was enough to keep me going until nearly midnight. I do tend to write later at night so it did cut my writing time short by about an hour. Even so, I managed to get a chapter revised early in the evening, worked on planning my next serial, and wrote a bit more of Inbetween. I really surprised myself with my level of productivity.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: More writing. It’s supposed to be cooler tomorrow so I’m hoping my brain will be less melty and that will translate into more motivation. Feeling miserable only really works to my advantage when I’m trying to write something ranty and that just isn’t the case most of the time.
