Writing Progress September 27– October 3, 2021

September 27

  • Project: The Dreams
  • Total word count: 225,523
  • Today’s word count: 521
  • Thoughts: Everything continues to go well for me on the writing front. I haven’t had this kind of drive and focus in a while. It’s fantastic. I’ve been wondering how this writing streak came to be. I think not having a single migraine in weeks has helped a lot.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: More writing, of course! Once I wrap up this section there’s only one more to go before the end of the draft! I can’t stop now. I’m so close to the end. It’s very exciting and almost impossible not to be motivated.

September 28

  • Project: The Dreams
  • Total word count: 226,035
  • Today’s word count: 512
  • Thoughts: I’m so happy I’ve been able to keep this writing streak going. It’s been going on so long now that I feel like I have to write or I will disappoint everyone. That sort of pressure might not be the best under most circumstances but since I’m so motivated it doesn’t seem to be a problem.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: I need to keep moving forward. There isn’t much time left in the month. I’m starting to lose confidence in finishing this draft before October starts. Even if I don’t make that arbitrary deadline, I know as long as I keep writing I’ll be there very soon.

September 29

  • Project: The Dreams
  • Total word count: 226,553
  • Today’s word count: 518
  • Thoughts: I feel like I’m getting somewhere with my writing lately. It feels great and I just want to keep going.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: I have errands to run on Thursday this week. I’m also going to be busy on Friday and Saturday so the next few days are going to be very up in the air, but I’m determined to keep writing. I don’t want this streak to die.

September 30

  • Project: The Dreams
  • Total word count: 226,585
  • Today’s word count: 32
  • Thoughts: I had a really bad, distracted day. As soon as one thing went wrong I could feel my motivation slipping away. I couldn’t grab it before it was gone entirely. After having so many good days of writing today was agony. I need to get back on track.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: My morning is booked with out of the house things. My afternoon and evening should be free for writing. I will have to put a lot of energy into getting into the right mindset to use the time properly. I hope I’ll be able to do it.

October 1

  • Project: The Dreams
  • Total word count: 226,590
  • Today’s word count: 5
  • Thoughts: It was another bad day for writing. I was exhausted. Once I was home and able to settle in for writing, I just wanted to sleep. I took an unexpected nap and even after waking up from that I didn’t have a ton of energy to put into anything.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: I’m going to have another busy day. I’m seriously considering dragging my laptop along with me to try to write between other activities. We’ll see what I decide to do.

October 2

No writing progress made. I was super busy and away from my computer almost all day. I’d considered taking my laptop with me but I didn’t have time to grab it and take it with me. It was probably for the best. My nephew was there and he’s finally able to move fast and he wants to be a big kid. I don’t think my laptop would survive him at this point.

October 3

  • Project: The Dreams
  • Total word count: 227,124
  • Today’s word count: 534
  • Thoughts: I’m back on track! I just needed a normal, quiet day to make it happen. The past few days were busy and fun, but I’m glad to be back to my normal, boring routine. There’s still plenty of writing to be done and I’m glad to have the time to do it.
  • Tomorrow’s goal: It should be another day I can dedicate to writing. I’m getting closer and closer to the end of this draft. I really can’t wait to wrap up and take the rest of the month off before diving into NaNoWriMo.
