November 1

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 1,675
• Today’s word count: 1,675
• Thoughts: I wrote a bit at midnight and the went to bed. When I woke up, I couldn’t find a chunk of time for uninterrupted, focused writing. Instead, I picked away at my word count throughout the day. Then midnight was approaching. I really wanted to be on track at least for the first day of the month so I pushed myself to finish up the words before midnight. Somehow it worked. What I wrote isn’t perfect but I can see some personality in it already. That’s enough to keep me going.
• Tomorrow’s goal: It’s NaNoWriMo so I’ll be aiming to write another 1,667 words or so. I can’t wait to see how it goes.

November 2

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 3,377
• Today’s word count: 1,702
• Thoughts: I’m on track two days in a row! Usually I don’t do a good job at staying consistent at the start of NaNoWriMo. It’s like I’m caught up in the excitement and it just completely derails my good intentions. My focus must be a bit better this year that usual.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Hopefully I can keep this consistent writing streak going. I’m feeling pretty motivated and I don’t want to lose momentum this month (even though I know it isn’t likely I will be consistent for 30 days).

November 3

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 5,103
• Today’s word count: 1,726
• Thoughts: There was a bit of time today I worried I wouldn’t get my word count for the day. I didn’t reach it until there was about a half hour left in the day. It could have been worse, but I felt the pressure. I didn’t like it.
• Tomorrow’s goal: I’m going to do my best to not cut it close again. The stress made me miserable. I prefer to have fun with NaNoWriMo and I have a lot of fun when I don’t feel like I’m about to disappoint myself. It might be time to rearrange my day a bit.

November 4

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 6,788
• Today’s word count: 1,685
• Thoughts: Writing is still moving forward at a great pace for NaNoWriMo. I won’t pretend it has been effortless, but so far I’ve been able to manage the amount of writing I need to get done every day. I’m really impressed with my progress.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Tomorrow is going to be the first real test of the month. I have errands to run. Fridays are always one of the weakest days for me writing-wise. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep pace. I’ll try not to worry about it too much, but I’d hate to have to start playing catch up after such a solid start to the month.

November 5

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 7,149
• Today’s word count: 361
• Thoughts: I saw the outcome of this day coming from a mile away. Nothing about today was going to make writing easy. I was stressed and distracted. I tried to relax and work around it, but I didn’t get very far. I’m just glad I managed to write something so I didn’t lose my writing streak.
• Tomorrow’s goal: Catch up time! I’m glad I got a few days at the start of the month with no catching up to do, but now the scramble to get my word count back to where it should be begins. I’m a little worried. Being behind can be discouraging. I know I won’t give up, but I might lose steam and end up playing catch up for the rest of the month. I hope that won’t happen.

November 6

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 7,760
• Today’s word count: 611
• Thoughts: I had a feeling I wouldn’t get caught up today. I didn’t think I’d fall even further behind! That’s what ended up happening and I’ll just have to write more the rest of the month to make up for it. Some days just aren’t the best for writing. It’s unfortunately that I had two days like this in a row. There’s still plenty of time to get back on track and that’s exactly what I’ll do!
• Tomorrow’s goal: I’m dedicating the day to writing. As long as nothing surprising happens, I should be able to write for hours and hours. Hopefully the words will be there for me to write.

November 7

• Project: Inbetween (novel version)
• Total word count: 9,546
• Today’s word count: 1,786
• Thoughts: I’m back! I still have catching up to do but I’m writing again. It took me a while to get started today but I took the time and eventually I did get writing and I just kept going.
• Tomorrow’s goal: I want to keep up the momentum. If I write a bit more I can get caught up over the course of this week and then focus on getting ahead for the end of the month. I have big plans. I’m trying not to get my hopes up because I know I probably won’t reach them all.
