What I Read in March

If February flew by, March was the month that wouldn’t end. The world was in chaos. I was distracted, scared and upset in varying levels every day. Reading was a good way to escape, but I found it difficult to focus unless I was already at least mostly calm.

What books did you read in March? Are you struggling to read because of worry and stress or has it served as a way to escape?

What I Read in February

I can’t believe February is over. We even had leap day this year and it still seemed like the month flew by. I feel like I read a lot this month, but I spread it out over multiple books so I didn’t finish much of anything.

What books did you read in February? Have you ever spent a month reading some of many books instead of finishing one book at a time?

What I Read in January

A new year has started!

I feel like a lot of my reading habits from 2019 have carried over to 2020. Some of that is good. I’m taking advantage of my local libraries digital offerings. Some of it isn’t so good. I’m not doing much to build up good reading habits. Fortunately, there’s plenty of time to change that!

What books did you read in January?

Do you have any books you think I should read? I like to have at least two books in rotation at a time so I have an opening right now!

What I Read in December

The year is over! I didn’t read a ton of books this year, but I really studied a couple of books I knew I loved to figure out what makes them so great.

How was 2019 for you reading-wise? Did you discover a new favorite or revisit a fictional world you love?

In 2020 I’m going to aim for two books a month. I should be able to achieve this goal, even if I slow down and really study the books. What’s your 2020 reading goal?

What I Read in November

November is for NaNoWriMo so I never know what to expect from my reading habits. This month I actually managed to read a bit.

I’m still savoring my reread of The Fellowship of the Ring. I adore Tolkien. This time I find myself getting stuck rereading the songs and poems. I want to be able to do that! My poetry skills aren’t good enough yet. It’s something I’ll have to work on if I want to try to include poetry in my writing.

What books have you read recently? I’d love to know!

What I Read in October

Reading was interesting this month. One of the things I read this month was my own writing. That was a weird experience, but definitely a worthwhile one! I didn’t hate everything I read!

I’m still savoring this read through of The Fellowship of the Ring. It’s a book I’ve ready multiple times before and this time around I’m enjoying the songs and picking up as many references to the ancient history of Middle Earth I can.

Do you ever do this with books you love?

What books have you read recently? I’d love to know!

What I Read in August

August was all about starting things and not finishing them. I’m juggling more books now than I was at the start of the month and I haven’t finished any of them. Yet.

Part of the problem stems from my library. I have audio books checked out and other people have holds so I can’t renew. I have to wait for my turn to come around again before I can continue. What do I do while I’m waiting? I borrow another book!

What books did you read in August? Do you ever have months of just starting books without finishing anything? What do you do to break that cycle and start finishing books again?

What I Read in July

July was a strange month. I was supposed to be focusing on CampNaNoWriMo. I didn’t give my Camp project as much attention I would have liked. However, because of CampNaNoWriMo I assumed I wouldn’t be reading a lot of books. Somehow that prediction still came true.

Maybe I’m in a reading slump. Maybe the summer weather just shifts my attention to activities other than writing. Maybe I just need a trip to the beach with a good book to change my attitude.

What books did you read in July? Have you been distracted by CampNaNoWriMo or other summer activities?

What I Read in June

I feel like I didn’t read a lot in June, but if I’m being realistic, I just wasn’t reading books. Most of my reading this month was online. I’ve been reading articles, blogs and forum threads about writing and topics relevant to my projects.

It’s been fun and I’m learning a lot. I just want to read more novels. They make me happy.

Do you ever take some time away from reading books without taking a break from reading? What sort of things do you read during that time?
